Ryley MacKenzie, CEO of Anera collects his prize for Top Innovator at LTE North America

Anera, an SDN and NFV solution provider, was crowned the winner of this year’s Innovation Accelerator at LTE North America in Dallas.

The Innovation Accelerator aims to discover the most exciting start-ups in the market today. This year, hundreds of entries poured in prior to the event, and were subsequently wittled down to a shortlist of 3 companies by our judging panel. Those three companies then pitched their services to a panel of expert judges and the LTE North America attendees.

The judges had a difficult time choosing 2014’s winner – the start-up with the most investment potential –  but eventually selected Anera as this year’s winner. Ryley MacKenzie, CEO of Anera said this victory was “validation that the LTE ecosystem is, indeed, migrating and embracing the SDN and NFV movement.”

Anera securely manage telecom service provider’s virtualized core network environments. In order to effectively manage the vEPC core, and related components (HSS, PCRF, PGW, etc.), Anera work with clients to design and implement the NFV environment whilst adhering to a strict, discipline-based Systems Management Framework – effectively mitigating the operational production environment risk and allowing telecom service providers to focus on their core competencies of acquiring and maintaining their subscriber base. Assembling the component pieces to deploy control plane and data plane is no great feat. Managing and orchestrating the deployment to ensure the robustness, reliability and resilience operators have come to expect is another matter. Anera ultimately mitigate the risk of deploying mission critical network components in a virtualized realm. The paradigm shift from a traditional telco environment to a virtualized one does not have to be a fraught with uncertainty. Managing and orchestrating the new paradigm from a disciplined-based perspective reduces the inherent operational risk whilst providing much needed network service deployment agility. This focus on service agility effectively positions carriers to take full advantage of a rapidly changing telephony environment.
