Gunadi Dwi Hantoro, Manager of Wireless Broadband, PT Telekomunikasi is speaking on Day One of the 10th annual LTE World Summit, the premier 4G event for the telecoms industry, taking place on the 23rd-26th June 2014, at the Amsterdam RAI, Netherlands.
What are the major trends you are seeing in mobile broadband?
I’d sum it up by saying that mobile broadband users are bandwidth hungry, and everybody wants to use it – immediately.
As 4G coverage becomes wider, to what extent will public Wi-Fi remain relevant?
Wi-Fi will complement mobile broadband that’s based on 4G. In the future, 4G and Wi-Fi will collaborate to handle broadband traffic. How is PT Telekomunikasi using Wi-Fi and small cells?
Both of them are used in most indoor applications. In contrast, macro and micro cells are for outdoors. In the future however, Wi-Fi and small cells will be integrated in some cases.
What can telcos do to speed up and improve Wi-Fi logon?
The operator has to guarantee Wi-Fi performance, the quality of backhaul and the capability of the back-end solution.
What do you think will be the leading LTE technology coming in the next 12 months?
In my opinion, we have two solutions TD vs. FD LTE and most of the GSM operators will acquire FD LTE spectrum.
Why is the LTE World Summit conference such an important date in your diary and what are you hoping to get out of it?
There are many important issues in to be address at the conference. Hopefully, we will gain some new knowledge on how to implement 4G LTE networks.
