“The 5G service will start rolling out in 2017” Really? That’s in three years’ time. Of course technology never stands still and speeds will get faster but 5G is not even close to being ratified as a standard and there’s always a ten-year gap between major standards evolving, so this sounds like marketing or just lazy tech journalism to me. South Korea plans to further upgrade its cellular data speeds in the coming years, and has announced that it will invest 1.6 trillion won (or $1.5 billion) in a 5G wireless network that will be 1,000 times faster than current 4G technology and will let users download full length movies in under a second, Agence France Presse reports.
